We will help you to determine how much carbon offsetting will be required to make the frames and lenses that you supply carbon neutral, build the cost of the offset into your business model and set up your offsetting payments through Net Zero Eyecare.

At this point Net Zero Eyecare will present you with your Carbon Neutral Eyewear Certificate.

1.2 Carbon Neutral Audiology

Your first carbon neutral service - get a feel for carbon accounting as we guide you to neutralising the carbon footprint of audiology services.

1.3 Optical Recycling Centre

Launch our spectacle recycling scheme and start sending your patients’ old specs to be turned in to something new.

LEVEL 2 - NET ZERO

2.1 Net Zero Carbon

With our guidance your business will be Carbon Neutral; by reducing emissions as much as you can, and calculating and offsetting the rest through Net Zero Eyecare.

You will then be certified NET ZERO CARBON at netzeroeyecare.org.

2.2 Net Zero Plastic

With our guidance your business will be Plastic Neutral; by reducing and recycling plastic waste as much as you can, then calculating and offsestting the rest through Net Zero Eyecare.

You will then be certified NET ZERO PLASTIC at netzeroeyecare.org.

LEVEL 3 - INDUSTRY IMPACT

Now that you have put your own house in order it will be time for us to collectively influence the rest of our industry to do the same.

LEVEL 4 - PILLAR OF A SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY

Together we will develop sustainability in our local communities and environments and explore other ethical business practices.

Andrew Clark, BSc(Hons), MSc, AIEMA.

Take a family background in optics, add a BSc (Hons) in Biology from St Andrews and an MSc in Ecology and Environmental Management from York.

Then add practical experience ranging from tropical conservation to British forestry, environmental documentary production and IT systems management, and you get someone who is uniquely qualified and perfectly placed to join the Practice Building team and lead NET ZERO OPTICS.

And then, once you have taken care of your bit of the planet why not tell the world about it!

Introducing NET ZERO EYECARE

NET ZERO EYECARE is a not-for-profit company that will certify your progress, ensure that your monthly offsetting fees are used as they should be, and tell the world what a great job you are doing.

Your patients will love knowing that their favourite opticians are doing their bit for the environment.

You’ll be earning official certifications that you can display with pride in your practice and shout about online.

You’ll get achievement badges for your window; and yes they are biodegradable in your home compost bin.
